3 Reasons to Get Out and Sweat Today!

Our bodies are incredible machines with built-in systems to keep us healthy. When the sweat glands in our skin produce water-rich moisture in the form of perspiration, our body is working wonders for our well-being. Here are more reasons to stay active and sweat more!

Full-Body Detox. Perspiration is part of the body's natural cleansing process. When we exert ourselves the blood and lymph systems accelerate the circulation of fluids. Our bodies use sweat to distribute nutrients to cells in need and move out waste materials. Cholesterol, salt and alcohol can accumulate and become more toxic over time. The more strenuous the activity the more poisons can be eliminated from our systems. This is one of the reasons we tend to feel so good after a challenging workout.

Personal Air Conditioning. Sweating is a great way for our bodies to regulate temperature. When sweat evaporates from our skin’s surface it gives us a cooling sensation. The harder we work or the hotter the external temperature the more sweat we produce to cool us down. When we exercise consistently our sweat glands work more efficiently.

Accelerated Healing. Regular exercise that results in perspiration can help us to relieve pain and other mental and physical problems. The millions of eccrine sweat glands distributed all over our skin release compounds that help regenerate skin cells damaged by injury. Research, published in Aging Cell, revealed that eccrine glands are “major contributors of new cells that replace the cells that were lost due to injury.” Younger looking skin reaps more benefits. As we age, skin becomes less cohesive and the healing effects of sweat glands decline. Staying active keeps glands working optimally.
